I am eternally grateful to
Bishop Henry Allen Belin, Jr. the Presiding Prelate of The Seventh Episcopal
District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church For giving me the opportunity
to serve the "Sensational" Sumter District.
All twenty-six churches of the Sumter District are moving by the grace of God.
They all have high goals and expectations, consistent evaluations and diligent
team work to meet the needs of our church members and the community. We mush not
become complacent. We must reinforce the programs that are currently in
operation in both the district and the seventh Episcopal District: as "Spiritual
Renewal and Formation, Evangelism, Education, Political and Economic Justice,
Empowerment of the Family through Prayer and Strengthened Communication within
the Family, and Empowerment of Men through Spiritual Disciplines (prayer,
fasting, study, meditation)." We mush respond to the pain and possibility of the
people and serve and nurture our children. We must continue to go beyond the
realms of our comfort zone to reach the undelivered that they too may be saved
and develop new ministries as needed.
The Sumter District has been historically recognized as a leader in both the
religious and secular world. We must strive to maintain that tradition and to
reach even greater heights.
My family and I would like to thank the members of the Directory Committee,
pastors and members of the Sumter District for your excellent support during the
2000-2001 Conference Year.
Yours in Christ,
Presiding Elder R. L. McCants
