Hi, glad you could make it. On this site you will find tons of information on the AME Church. If you have a question or comment click on feed back.

Below is an exert from History of the A.M.E Church.

"When Richard Allen moved out of the house of bondage and began to breathe free air, his first thoughts were to help humanity in general and his poor neglected brother in particular. His philosophy of the Ministry was somewhat progressive and fulfilling, as he conceived of his task as encompassing the entire life of the individual. The question may well be asked whether all Ministers today approach Allen's view of the duties and responsibilities they face in a community where injustice and unfair treatment, lack of job opportunities, and poor housing beset the entire African American Race.
Be it known that Jesus believed in the practicality of social service and believed that alleviating human suffering is a means by which one may reach the souls of  men. In fact Jesus never failed to heal the sick and at every opportunity he willingly fed those who were in need of food. On more than one occasion he had to perform miracles to feed thousands who needed sustentation at that time. The separation of physical suffering from spiritual needs is a modern complexity, and if history is true, it has no foundation in the ministry of Jesus, the ministry of the Apostle Paul, the ministry of Richard Allen, or the ministry of Christianity in general. Allen, in attempting to alleviate human suffering as a minister of the gospel, was indeed a true follower of Jesus Christ in every respect. "When I was hungry ye gave me food, when I was sick you nursed me," represents the true spirit of Jesus Christ and the true Spirit of Richard Allen."
